Why the Siemens Symbia Evo Excel?
The Symbia Evo Excel is Siemens Healthineers' current-generation standalone dual-head SPECT platform: it delivers the detector performance and syngo workflow of the Symbia family without the siting, shielding and service cost of a hybrid SPECT/CT. QC & inspection notes
Independent quality assurance was performed by a qualified medical physicist on March 18, 2026, before deinstallation. Head Alignment Calibration (MHR COR 90, 3-point study) returned a center of rotation of 0.345 mm with 0.708 mm axial shift on Detector 1 and −3.324 mm with −0.708 mm axial shift on Detector 2, with system resolution at 20 cm measured at 24.551 mm and 24.335 mm respectively — all within Siemens acceptance thresholds. Extrinsic LEHR flood verification acquired 30,087K counts on Detector 1 and 30,302K counts on Detector 2 over 947 seconds at 1024 × 1024 with a Cobalt-57 sheet source, showing uniform flood fields with no visible non-uniformity. Intrinsic flood below peak (99mTc, 1,253 s, ~10,000K counts per detector) showed the expected photomultiplier pattern with no crystal defects, cracks or dead PMTs. Spatial resolution was verified with a four-quadrant bar phantom on Collimator 2 (Cobalt-57, 5,010K counts, 640 s) with all bar groups resolved. The system is cosmetically and mechanically in excellent condition, professionally deinstalled and now in inventory at Medical Trade Center's Miami, Florida, USA facility.
